Research - Fashion on Location

I have always been interested in Fashion photography and like seeing soft fabrics against a more of an edgy rural background, but then I also admire the softer combination of Fashion with Nature. I have always watched Amerca's next top model and Britains next top model and the fashion on location shoots have always been my favourite so this is where I wanted to focus the next part of my research.

Sue Westwood - Ruttledge

When carrying out research on this part of photography I came across a gallery of photos taken by Sue Westwood - Ruttledge.
I like how the photos are playful, feminine and romantic and they are all on location.

Sue's work comes across very natural and effortless and I like that about the photographs. I like that she has also used props in the images to give more character to the overall shots. It also makes the images seem more fun and quirky.

I like how nature is brought into the photographs as it gives the images balance and the clothes also reflect the backdrop used. For the image above for example, the dress is flowery and neutral which goes well with the tones and textures of the grass.
Sue shows a different side to her photography in the below photograph.

I like the use of black and white in this photograph and it feels more edgy and is in more of a rural setting.

Looking at Sue's work it makes me want to experiment with a more edgy background and maybe try some shots myself in more built up areas and then to compare this to photographs I take in a more natual setting.
